About Y-Thai
Y-Thai is a thai restaurant in Champaign, Illinois. It is listed at 1001 S Wright St Rm 226, Champaign, IL 61820, which places it among the local businesses of Champaign that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as chinese restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Champaign, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across Illinois run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. The most common schedule is 10:30 amβ3:30 pm. It is closed on Saturday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Y-Thai at (217) 337-1500; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is universityymca.org, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
Its Google rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 31 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.
Champaign is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Champaign follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

If you want real Thai food do not go here, it's basically cafeteria Thai. Very greasy and almost no flavor, bottom of the barrel pad thai. for a college place I guess it's fine but at 10 dollars for a plate of greasy, tasteless carbs, not worth it. The Thai milk tea was good, save yourself the trouble and don't order anything else, :v

I had really high hopes for this place and I have been wanting to try the food for a while because the reviews are quite good and the food looked pretty good as well, but unfortunately the food had a very bad taste :( the flavor of the tofu pad Thai reminded me of the smell of formaldehyde, it was very chemical-y and it tasted like something was wrong with it. It was not only bad, but inedible and it is unfortunate because the quantity was quite large and I had to throw it away. I think most of the positive reviews are quite outdated, so I would not recommend going now.

I have loved and frequented this spot for over 25 years. Today was the first time I have been back since the new owner took over. I am sorry I didnβt get his name but he was delightful. I bought 5 orders of shrimp pad Thai for myself and my family. The new packaging and portion size were amazing! The pad Thai was even better than I have ever had. I can tell the products are quality and the spice was perfect. I am so glad I came in today and so is my family who was able to drive home over an hour and half and heat it up. Would highly recommend and will be back!

This restaurant is in YMCA, serving decent Thai & Chinese food, which only open at lunch time 10:30-3:30. I didn't know this place before, but it turned out that I'm having very good experience with their food. They offer a very large serving of food and the taste is very good. The price is ~$10 per plate including Rice/PadThai + 2 toppings + 1 eggroll/drink. However, they only have ~8 dishes. Overall, I like the place and would recommend it.

My experience is limited to the lunch service with fried rice/pad thai and a choice of meat and vegetable toppings. The staff are always remarkably friendly, the price is quite reasonable, and the quality of the food at the price point is much better than I initially expected. The eggplant medly topping, in particular, is quite enjoyable. The venue offers dine-in and to-go options, although the dine-in options seems to provide a significantly greater volume of food - nothing I can complain about, to be sure. The location is convenient to the west side of the UIUC main/south quads - Gregory, David Kinley, and Lincoln halls in particular - and is no more than a minute's walk from two major bus stops on Wright. As a graduate student with an office nearby, this is a favorite of mine for a very filling and enjoyable lunch if I haven't had the time to prepare something at home.
